Port Moody Police Department's deputy chief constable was honoured Thursday by B.C. Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon for his work with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.
Andrew Richards - along with Langley Staff Sgt. Michael Coyle, Sgt. William Whalen and detectives Timothy Rayner and Andrew Wooding of the Abbotsford police department - were given awards of meritorious service for taking down the leader of B.C.'s most powerful gang and six gangsters convicted of conspiracy to commit murder.
In total, 87 officers were presented with valour and meritorious service accolades at the province's 34th annual police honours night on Thursday at Government House.
