Port Moody honours best in the business

Port Moody's top businesses were on full display last week for the eighth annual Spike Business Awards. Nine awards were handed out at the Inlet Theatre Oct.

Port Moody's top businesses were on full display last week for the eighth annual Spike Business Awards.

Nine awards were handed out at the Inlet Theatre Oct. 24 to the winners selected from the more than 450 nominations received by the city's Economic Development Committee.

"The Spike Awards give local business owners an opportunity to network with like minds, make new connections and have a little bit of fun,' said Coun, Rosemary Small, chair of the Economic Development Committee. "We think the event was a huge success and applaud all of the nominees recognized at Inlet Theatre on Thursday evening."

Gibson MMA won the Arts in Business award while Chomp Vegan Eatery picked up honourable mention. The Street Appeal award went to Rocky Point Ice Cream, with SOKO Tea House claiming honourable mention. Healing Cedar Wellness earned top marks for Customer Service, with honourable mention going to Port Moody Auto and Air as well as Port Moody Travel. Chomp Vegan Eatery won the Environmental Sustainability award and Around My House Consignment landed honourable mention. The Technology and Innovation award went to Leading Edge Consulting with Optimum Family Chiropractic being named honourable mention. Pajo's at Rocky Point was named top Tourist Destination ahead of Chapandaz Restaurant. Browns Social House won Employer of Choice with Thrifty Foods getting honourable mention. The Home Based Business award went to Knight Shutter Photography, with Kinderbooks garnering honourable mention. City Green Solutions won the One-Minute Pitch competition.

"I'd like to personally congratulate all the winners, honorable mentions and nominees recognized at the eighth annual Spike Business Awards," said Mayor Mike Clay. "The event really showcases the quality of businesses we have here in Port Moody."
