Do you have a favourite business that’s helped put Port Moody on the map, or had a positive impact on the city?
You can help share your love by nominating it for a Spike Award, the city’s annual recognition of its top businesses.
Winners will be selected in five categories, some of which have changed from previous years:
- City of the Arts Business Award recognizes a business or organization that contributes to Port Moody’s brand as the City of the Arts
- Business Impact Award celebrates a business that has had sustained success while also demonstrating social responsibility through environmental leadership, inclusive labour practices, charitable giving or community involvement
- Puts Port Moody on the Map Award recognizes a business that has helped increase the city’s profile and contributes to its cultural, artistic and social capital
- Community Builder Award goes to a business or business person living in the city who has provided leadership and mentorship
- New Business Award is for a top business that has operated in Port Moody for more than a year but less than three year and demonstrates excellence in management, services and integrity
“The Spike Business Awards help us celebrate businesses that have built strong connections with their customers and with the broader community,” said Port Moody Mayor Meghan Lahti in a news release.
“They are advocates and innovators, as well as inspiring leaders and champions of community values such as diversity and inclusion, environmental protection and arts and culture.”
Nominations can be submitted online or on a paper form available at city hall (100 Newport Dr.) until Oct. 11.
Winners are selected by members of Port Moody’s economic development and tourism committee. They will be celebrated at a gala event to be held Nov. 28, 2024.
