A Port Moody mom delivered a baby boy at home early Tuesday morning with lots of help from firefighters and even her own husband.

The local smokeaters got a call at 3:57 a.m. and arrived on the scene to find the mom fully dilated and on the floor of her bathroom. "They could see the child's head and within five minutes she produced a baby boy," Port Moody Fire Chief Remo Faedo confirmed.

The woman's husband, a trained paramedic, also assisted in the birth of his son. "We were able to provide him with the equipment and the assistance to help him deliver the baby," Faedo said.

It's not unusual to get a call to assist in a birth, Faedo said, but the veteran firefighters were happy to trumpet the news on Twitter this morning.
