Port Moody police investigating brazen car key theft

Port Moody Police Department is trying to track down between 40 and 50 vehicle keys that were taken at gunpoint Wednesday morning from Westwood Honda. At 8 a.m., a man approached an employees and asked for a set of keys for a used vehicle on the lot.

At 8 a.m., a man approached an employees and asked for a set of keys for a used vehicle on the lot. When the employee stated that he did not have the keys, the suspect produced a hand gun and demanded the keys to a nearby SUV - and all the keys the employee was carrying.

The vehicle was found a short time later in Coquitlam but the keys were not. All of the vehicles affected have had their locks reprogrammed.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old Caucasian male with a gaunt face; at the time of the offence he was wearing sunglasses and a cream-coloured hat.
