Port Moody police are searching for a man that walked into the Pharmasave on Newport Drive with a gun and demanded money and oxycontin.
When the thief was informed that the drugs he was looking for were not available, he grabbed a fist full of various prescriptions and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
"We are currently investigating and pulling various video surveillance," Port Moody Police Department Const. Luke van Winkel. "We are hoping to release a picture of the suspect soon."
Officers quickly descended on the scene and dogs and a police helicopter scoured the area.
But the suspect, who police said was wearing a black hoodie, was not found, and investigators are now turning to the public for any information.
Van Winkel said he could not say whether the robberies appeared to be connected with a string of similar incidents in the Austin Heights area. He added that there was a hold up at a Maple Ridge drug store last week that was comparable to the Port Moody robbery.
"We can't say whether they are related," he said. "These guys do tend to get around."
Coquitlam RCMP are still searching for a suspect, who they believe robbed a Remedy's Rx on Ridgeway Avenue. Police believe the thief may have also been involved in other incident in the area.
He is described as a male between 20 and 24 years old. He is 6'0" to 6'2" and weighs approximately 190 to 215 lbs. and has dark brown hair.

POLICE CHASE
A car chase through Port Moody last week ended without incident and only a minor violation ticket for the driver.
Patrolling officers noticed a vehicle in the 3000-block of St. Johns Street they believed was engaged in drug trafficking.
As the officers approached the vehicle the driver hit the gas, making several erratic turns to evade police while throwing small bags out the window.
Police caught up with the suspect on Henry Street and went down St. Georges to William Street, finally apprehending the man in an alley behind St. Johns Street.
"When the officer caught up with him it was noted that items were thrown from the vehicle," said Port Moody Police Department Const. Luke van Winkel. "A search of the area found multiple bags of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine."
The total amount of drugs recovered was about 10 grams, however police said that at this time there is insufficient evidence to charge the suspect. He was issued a violation ticket for fleeing from a police officer and released.
Police said the 34-year-old man is from Port Coquitlam and is known to police.
