Port Moody’s recreation complex will be reopening to some users on Monday.
The complex was closed and all programming cancelled on Nov. 9 to comply with public health orders issued Nov. 7 by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. The closure was supposed to last until Nov. 23.
But after reviewing its own COVID safety plans for civic facilities, as well as receiving clarification of the order and a further discussion with the regional medical health officer, the city determined the complex could be reopened safely for users of the arenas, the weight room, personal training services as well as the Early Learners Outdoor Playschool.
All other recreation programs remain cancelled through Nov. 23. City hall is also closed through that date, although enquiries are still being handled by phone or email.
Visitors to the rec complex will have to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment prior to entering and they’re also expected to wear a face mask while entering and exiting, walking through the lobby and hallways or when they can’t maintain a distance of two metres from others.
