Some residents in Port Moody's Seaview neighbourhood are anxious to hear how traffic changes to permit Evergreen Line construction will affect their neighbourhood.
A meeting is slated for tonight at the Project Office in Coquitlam to explain how a new protected left turn from Charles Street to Clarke Road/St. Johns Street will work. Some residents told The News they are concerned that closing Clarke Street to View Street will make it difficult for them to get into downtown Port Moody safely.
Residents are concerned the new access route to St. Johns Street will be dangerous.
The area of concern is directly above the tunnel portal where the Evergreen Line will exit onto an elevated track in Port Moody before continuing along the CP Rail alignment.
Meanwhile, signs have been posted on Clarke Road announcing the closure in March and work on relocating utilities on View Street is under way.
According to Evergreen Line traffic bulletins, there may be intermittent closures of one westbound lane on Clarke Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., starting this week. Drivers are encouraged to be cautious and watch for traffic control personnel.
