Port Moody water warnings lifted

Water warnings at Port Moody's Old Orchard Beach and around Rocky Point Park were lifted yesterday.

Water warnings at Port Moody's Old Orchard Beach and around Rocky Point Park were lifted yesterday.

Fraser Health tests from Thursday showed the the area around Old Orchard Beach is now safe to swim in but not around Rocky Point Park (canoeing and paddling are allowed).

Despite the lifts, city officials say they will continue to monitor the water quality.

The advisory was put in place earlier this month when the warm weather meant a rise in the E. coli levels. At the time, the health authority cautioned that people may get sick if they swam in or drunk the water accidentally.
