A 79-year-old Port Moody woman is dead after a motor vehicle collision at North Road and Lougheed Highway Thursday afternoon.

The Coquitlam RCMP said the crash took place at around 2:12 p.m. when a Honda Accord collided into the back of a Dodge Grand Caravan that was stopped at a red light at Lougheed facing northbound on North Road. The impact caused the Dodge to collide with a Scion that was in front of it.

The intersection was closed for most of the afternoon, re-opening at around 8 p.m. Police said that impairment and the use of an electronic device was not a factor in the collision and that ICARS and the Coquitlam Coordinated Collision Investigation Team is investigating.

Anyone that witnessed the crash is asked to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2016-26243.
