Dr. Charles Best students and teachers got their morning smile today from anonymous posters of positive messages.
The entire school was blanketed with sticky notes bearing kind words and thoughts, bringing smiles to students' faces.
Angel Kennedy, a Grade 11 student, arrived at school and found a note that read: "Go change the worlld" and then noticed every other locker in her hallway bore notes with individual messages with kind words, as well.
"It just makes you smile," Kennedy said.
As she walked through the hallways of the Coquitlam school, she noticed notes on every door and locker - about 1,500 notes in all.
She thinks the initiative by an anonymous group was a good idea and probably made a lot of people feel better.
"I think if someone is having a bad day one of the notes could cheer them up," she said.
The notes, in yellow and blue, bore hand-written phrases such as "hang in there" and "have a good day."
Principal Mary O'Neill agreed the notes created a good feeling throughout the school. "It's kind of neat, as the students came in (and saw the notes) they had smiles on their faces."
The idea actually came from Riverside secondary, where students posted positive notes on lockers on Tuesday. Vice-principal Randy Manhas Tweeted a photo, and Dr. Charles Best students saw it and posted their own notes on all the lockers last night.
"That's awesome how positive ideas spread through social media inspired our kids to act," Best vice-principal Kristi Blakeway said in an email to The News.
