A lightning storm has caused power outages across the Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam area but BC Hydro said the lights should be back on this afternoon.
Lightning knocked out power in the Austin Heights area of Coquitlam, with the larger area without service lying between Austin Avenue, Dogwood Street, North Road and Townley Street. In that neighbourhood 1,352 homes were without power.
Another 28 homes lost power in the 3000-block of Lougheed Highway, while 10 homes were without power on Winslow Avenue.
BC Hydro said the power would likely be back on by 2 p.m.
