A prolific offender is facing criminal charges after police executed a search warrant at a home in the northeast part of Coquitlam.
The search turned up a firearm, a large quantity of drugs, stolen mail, identification, credit cards and several vehicles, all of which were seized by investigators.
James Edward Allan Anger of Port Coquitlam has been charged with theft from mail, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possess of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm contrary to an oder and possession for sale of an identity document.
Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung credited the detachments prolific target team (PTT) for making the arrest possible.
"This is just another example that proves our crime reduction strategy is an effective tool in reducing crime," he said. "Through working together in a concerted effort, our crime analysts, PTT investigators and uniformed officers were able to bring this prolific offender to justice."
Chung added that in many cases, only a small handful of people are responsible for the majority of the crimes carried out in the community. Often one arrest can lead to a dramatic drop in the Coquitlam RCMP's property crime statistics.
"It takes time and a fair amount of police work to build these cases," he said. "But it is so worthwhile in the end because you bring one person to justice and it eliminates a lot of crime."
Anger has been in custody since July 12. He was expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.
