Mariner Way was shut down for a couple of hours Monday after a valve on a propane-powered van ruptured, spraying fuel on the road.

Emergency crews did not have to travel far to respond to the incident, which took place in front of the Mariner Way fire hall shortly after 8 a.m.

"It was a vehicle powered by propane and it sprung a leak," said Coquitlam Fire Chief Tony Delmonico. "Fire crews used a hose line to control the vapour." Nine crew members responded, including a ladder truck and a fire engine. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
