Reminder: 2022 Terry Fox Run takes place today across the Tri-Cities

It's been 42 years since the Port Coquitlam hero began his Marathon of Hope.

Today (Sept. 18) is Terry's day.

Thousands of Tri-Cities residents are expected to walk, jog and run in honour of those battling or succumbing to cancer, much like Canadian icon Terry Fox did in 1980.

The 2022 Terry Fox Run is set to take place in Coquitlam and in Fox's hometown of Port Coquitlam.

Each community has set a fundraising goal, in which money has been earmarked for the Terry Fox Foundation's ongoing commitment to cancer research.

This includes:

  • $25,000 in Port Coquitlam
  • $10,000 in Coquitlam
  • $4,000 in Port Moody

Participants will begin in various locations this morning.

At 10 a.m., runners will line up at Port Coquitlam's Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and at Coquitlam's Mundy Park at the Hillcrest Street entrance.

If you can't make the run this year, you're can still make a donation to the cause.
