Young families looking to get their kids involved with local sports teams are being invited to put their skills to the test this weekend.

The annual Coquitlam Sports Fair is taking place in Town Centre Park tomorrow (Aug. 20).

The free showcase is set to include 21 regional organizations in setting a goal of providing something for everyone to either play, coach or volunteer.

This includes several try-it stations that allows interested participants to see if their talents match up to a respective sport's challenge.

"The Sports Fair is one of the Spotlight on Sport initiatives from the Coquitlam in Bloom program," explained city parks manager Kathleen Reinheimer.

"The annual event brings together a wide variety of community sporting associations with members of the public who want to try out new sports, find out what local sports groups have to offer, and discover fun ways to stay active."

The sports fair is scheduled for Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at North Field #6, and will also include free slushies to beat the heat.
