Road closures and talks

A number of night-time ramp closures along Highway 1 in Coquitlam will begin next week as crews work to complete the roadways leading up to the new Port Mann bridge.

A number of night-time ramp closures along Highway 1 in Coquitlam will begin next week as crews work to complete the roadways leading up to the new Port Mann bridge.

The westbound on-ramp to the freeway from the Mary Hill Bypass, the Highway 1-to-Lougheed Highway off-ramp and the Coleman Avenue on-ramp will be affected. The closures are expected to take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with 48-hour notice provided to motorists over electronic message boards.

By closing off the sections of road, crews will be able to complete the approaches for two new overpasses, providing dedicated connections from the new bridge to the Lougheed Highway eastbound and westbound. New ramps will also provide direct access from the Mary Hill Bypass to the freeway.

While the work is being conducted, vehicles will be detoured north along United Boulevard to the Lougheed Highway, entering Highway 1 at the Coleman Avenue on-ramp.

Drivers travelling further west should also be aware of closures to the Sprott Street and Kensington Avenue highway crossings next week. Starting June 20, night-time detours will take place between midnight and 4 a.m., weather permitting. More news:
