Royal Party sought for May Days in PoCo

Elementary school students in Port Coquitlam now have the chance to be in the next May Day royal party.

Elementary school students in Port Coquitlam now have the chance to be in the next May Day royal party.

Girls in grades 1 and 2 can apply to be a flower girl while girls and boys in grades 4 and 5 can be princesses and lancers.

The deadline to enter is Feb. 1 and positions will be drawn randomly.

Participants must be able to attend hip hop dance practices on Wednesdays, starting Feb. 6 at the PoCo recreation complex.

As well, students will need to be at the May Day Selection Tea on April 15, when the May Queen and Ambassador will be selected at random.

The dress rehearsal for the May Day banquet and opening ceremonies is on the afternoon of May 3.

The 96th annual May Day parade is on May 11.
