Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam residents can ride along with local Mounties from the comfort of their own homes during a tweet-along hosted by the Coquitlam RCMP tomorrow (Thursday) between noon and 10 p.m.
The event is being held to mark National Police Week and will give participants an opportunity to learn what police do on a typical shift, said spokesperson Cpl. Jamie Chung.
In addition to tweeting the activities of fellow officers dealing with routine missing persons, traffic accidents, shoplifting and other issues, Chung and Const. Michelle Luca will tweet at noon from an awards ceremony at the detachment.
The hashtag for the tweet-along is #CQtwt; for National Police Week, it's #PoliceWeek.
Chung said residents don't have to sign up for Twitter to follow the tweet-along; they can track the action on their computer or smart phone by typing in twitter.com/cqrcmp in the address bar of the browser. If you have a Twitter account, you can follow @cqrcmp.
