Several groups representing parents, teachers, student services and support workers are expected to make a presentation at tonight's board meeting as School District 43 looks to cut 142 positions, roughly 6% of its staffing.

Among the positions facing cuts next year will be teachers, youth workers, teaching assistants, and special education assistants.

The cuts come at a time when the district is facing a demographic change, with more needier kids requiring extra help in the form of academic support and counselling

Tonight's meeting to discuss the 2013/'14 budget will be at 7 p.m. at Winslow Centre, 1100 Winslow Ave., Coquitlam.
