The following are candidates' responses to the following questions: Incumbents only: With School District 43's recent difficulties, which resulted in $13.4 million in cost cutting, and a forensic audit noting lack of control and monitoring resulted in a deficit in 2012/'13, why should anyone vote for you, an incumbent who was on the board when it happened? To non-incumbents only: If you are elected, what issue would you bring to the board's attention? To all: What is your reason for running for school trustee? Also: Do you think there is enough transparency about what goes on in the school district? If not, how would you change it?

Expertise to offer board: advocacy

Endorsement: CUPE

Why run: "My belief is that we can do more in our system to educate our kids and better prepare them to be innovators and leaders of the future. When I look at curriculum, and structure of the classes, I think there's in opportunity to be an influencer and a thought leader in education."

What issue: "The current board has not been involved for many years in councils, police boards and at the ground level of schools, and we need to have a mechanism where that information is being collected from those stakeholders so we can apply all the resources to our education system that are available."

Transparency: "No, there is not enough public transparency. We can change that a few ways - one is through social media, newspapers there is an opportunity to collaborate with other stakeholders and hold events specific to education and what's happening in our schools."
