BC Hydro expects the power to be back on by 11 a.m.

The following schools are affected: Kilmer, Mary Hill, Castle Park,Hazel Trembath, Citadel Middle and Pitt River middle.

A vehicle accident in the area of Pitt River Road and Citadel Drive AT 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning caused the power outage, affecting approximately 4,000 customers. Parts of Pitt Meadows are also affected.

"Crews were able to restore power to 1,160 customers by switching them to another circuit at 2 a.m. The accident caused extensive damage to BC Hydro's system and crews worked throughout the early morning to make the necessary repairs, including replacing a power pole and a broken crossarm. They are currently replacing and repairing multiple spans of wiring that were torn down as a result of the accident," BC Hydro stated in a press release.
