The annual retirement dinner for School District 43 employees is another casualty of B.C. public school teachers' rotating strikes.
Board of education chair Melissa Hyndes said yesterday that the event - planned for Thursday at Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club for 80 retirees, including administrators, teachers and support workers - will be postponed to the fall.
"It's with much regret," said Hyndes, noting that the event is an important gesture to recognize the contribution of long serving district employees. "It's one of the few things the district does to say, 'Thank you.'"
