Fraser Health has flagged a fourth Coquitlam elementary school for a COVID-19 exposure.

The latest exposure occurred at Glen elementary Oct. 6, 7 and 9, according to the health authority’s exposure portal.

In an Oct. 16 Fraser Health early notification letter sent to at least some members of the school community and seen by the Tri-City News, public health has initiated contact tracing and the investigation remains ongoing as per standard procedure.

This is the seventh school from School District 43 that has reported a COVID-19 exposure event. However, of those, Mundy elementary is the only other exposure to remain on the Fraser Health list of ongoing investigations.

School District 43 School Exposures

According to Fraser Health, a school “exposure” indicates a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection attended school during their infectious period. A school “cluster,” on the other hand, indicates possible school-based transmission with two or more lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 attending school while infectious. Finally, an “outbreak” at a school means “multiple individuals with lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection” and that “transmission is likely widespread.”
