The Coquitlam RCMP have received a number of tips since releasing a sketch of a sexual assault suspect earlier this month but are still appealing to the public for more information.
The incident occurred on May 1 at around 10:30 p.m. when a woman was assaulted near the Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam border. Investigators believe the suspect got off bus number 3322 on Route 169 with the victim, following her to an area on Como Lake near Westwood where the incident took place.
The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, about 5'7" tall with a medium build and a dark complexion and hair (he may be a First Nations individual). At the time of the incident, he was wearing a ball cap and light-colored cloying. He was last seen heading westbound from Westwood.
"We have had a number of tips," said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung on Monday. "As always, we are hoping people give us more information if they know something and they haven't talked to us yet."
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault or who may recognized the man in the composite police sketch is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP Sex Crimes Unit at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2014-11555. Those who wish to provide information anonymously can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by going to www.solvecrime.ca.
