Want to learn more about the Site C Dam dam project?

Adrienne Peacock and Mae Burrows of the Sierra Club will be speaking on the issues and impacts of the controversial infrastructure project during a presentation next week at the Coquitlam Public Library City Centre branch next week. The free event, put on by members of Tri-Cities Amnesty International, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Peacock is a biologist who worked as a consultant for the Peace River Valley Environment Association in the 1980s, when the B.C. Utilities Commission first examined Site C. She has since taught biology at Douglas College and has long been an opponent of the dam.

Burrows was the environmental director of the Fisherman's Union and has been acknowledged for her environmental work with awards from the Wilderness Committee and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal. She was also named a YWCA Woman of Distinction for Environmental Sustainability.
