A new Pacific storm is forecast to hit the Lower Mainland tonight, potentially bringing a mix of snow, freezing rain and rain across the Tri-Cities.
Accompanied by strong winds, the snow is predicted to start later this evening. But as the storm’s warm air drives deeper into the Tri-Cities, snow will shift to rain. How and when that will happen is difficult to predict, says an Environment Canada special weather statement for Coquitlam.
The transition could see a period of freezing rain and if the shift to rain is delayed, there’s a chance the region will see more snowfall.
By noon Saturday, Environment Canada predicts most the precipitation falling on Metro Vancouver will be the wet stuff, not the white stuff.
