It's been another year of recovery for most Port Moody businesses, but most continue to put community and people first.

The city has opened its nomination period for the Spike Awards in hopes of bringing those establishments into the spotlight.

And officials need the public's help in determining 2022's recipients for its six categories, including business of the year claimed by Seaforth Environmental Service Ltd. last year.

Between now and Oct. 2, local residents can submit a form for their favourite business and why they should be recognized for their hard work and commitment to community.

"We also want to hear directly from our local business community," adds a Port Moody city release today (Aug. 8).

"We are encouraging owners and employees to self-nominate for our Business of the Year award. Tell us about your growth, customer service, and commitment to the community. This is an opportunity to showcase the phenomenal work you’ve done in another challenging year."
