There are still spaces left for outdoor recreation programs offered by the city of Coquitlam next month.

Adult fitness classes and half-day kids day camps are being held throughout July and have been modified to allow for proper physical distancing protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The paid kids camps with up to six participants take place in Coquitlam parks and sports fields, and have been designed to ensure physical distancing and meet all the health requirements,” the city said in a press release. “This includes regular handwashing, as well as individualized supplies and sanitizing shared equipment.”

The half-day camps are held between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 and 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain Park, Panorama Heights, Smiling Creek, Town Centre Park and Victoria Park.

The fitness classes will run Tuesdays starting between June 16 and June 30, June 18 to July 2, July 7 to July 28 and July 9 to July 30.

Registration is required and the cost for the June sessions is $15, while the cost for the July sessions are $20.

Health and safety will be paramount during the kids camps and fitness classes, the city said in a press release.

Staff or participants displaying symptoms must not attend and programs will ensure that there is at least six feet space between individuals. Handwashing and good hygiene practices will be emphasized.

“As is necessary in these uncertain times,” the city said, “the plans are flexible and the city is prepared to scale back or modify them as required to protect public health.”
