A six-foot fall Halloween-themed lawn globe is back with its owner after being swiped from a Burke Mountain home earlier this month.
The Coquitlam RCMP tracked down the ornament at around 1 a.m. two days after it disappeared, finding a few kilometres away on the property of another home in the neighbourhood.
"A big 'Happy Halloween' globe was leering from a lawn where the home's occupants are well-known to us," said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin, noting that the Uniformed Crime Reduction Unit tracked down the display. "Of course, they didn't 'know nothin' about nothin'', but we knew, and they knew, that the decoration didn't belong. We seized the globe and took it back to the home where it belongs."
The globe has a spider on top and features a pumpkin, ghost and scary tree with the words "Happy Halloween" scrawled along the bottom.
No charges are being recommended, but police are reminding residents to keep an eye on their decorations this Halloween. If anyone sees anything suspicious, they are asked to call the non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 or 911 if they witness a crime in progress.
