A wind and rain storm complete with thunder and lighting rolled through the Tri-Cities Thursday afternoon, knocking down power lines and temporarily flooding some roads.

In Coquitlam, 336 homes were without power for just over three hours in an area east of Baker Drive, south of Pier Drive, north of Fleet Street and west of Ranch Park Way. There were a few other spots throughout Port Coquitlam and Port Moody where storm-related damage caused the electricity to stop flowing to isolated pockets of homes.

According to Coquitlam's director of public works' Jamie Umpleby, there were no significant sites of flooding and that the city's waste water system worked properly.

"It was just the sheer volume of water" that caused some temporary concerns, he said.
