Strengthening families and making children successful are the goals of a long-term project now seeking community input.
The Tri-Cities Early Childhood Development Committee and the Tri-Cities Middle Childhood Matters Committee are hosting a Knowing 2 Doing event on Monday, March 4 at Winslow Centre in Coquitlam.
Participants will discuss the findings of research on kindergarten and middle school age children that found increasing vulnerability among younger children and reduced community connections and incidences of low well-being among older kids.
The survey was conducted in 2011 using an Early Development research tool in which teachers report various social, learning and emotional competencies among kindergarten children and a middle years development instrument, a self-report survey that children complete in Grade 4.
The March event will focus on ways this data can be used to improve outcomes for children in the Tri-Cities.
It will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Gallery Room at Winslow Centre, 1100 Winslow Ave., Coquitlam. For more information, email [email protected] or [email protected].
