Two Surrey residents are facing multiple charges after a break-in that started in a Port Moody garage.

At about 12:30 a.m. Monday a McNair Bay homeowner in PoMo's Sunnyside neighbourhood called police after finding two women in his garage. When he confronted them, the women claimed to be lost and fled in a stolen white BMW driven by a man.

A Port Moody Police officer located the vehicle heading east on Ioco Road and tried to block the road with his vehicle, but the suspects drove on to the gravel shoulder and managed to get away. Officers later found the vehicle abandoned on Water Street, in the Sentinel Hill area.

The police deployed a K9 unit and tracked through the green belt that leads to the Parkside Drive area, where they found and arrested two suspects. One of the female suspects was not located.

A 28-year-old Surrey man is now facing 11 criminal charges, including: possession of a dangerous weapon (a replica handgun); possession of a prohibited weapon (a stun gun); two counts of possession of stolen property (one over $5,000 and one under $5,000); possession of break-and-enter instruments; flight from police; obstructing a police officer; two counts of breach of probation; possession of identification document; and driving while prohibited.

Arrested on an outstanding warrant was a 23-year-old Surrey woman, who is facing new charges including possession of break-and-enter instruments, breach of recognizance and obstructing a police officer.

Officers seized a variety of cell phones, iPods and other electronics from the woman and are investigating whether or not they are stolen.
