The company that oversaw part of the rebuild of the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam will stickhandle the planned update of the Port Coquitlam recreation centre.

This week, members of the city's finance committee approved a $350,000 contract for Tango Management Group formerly known as Task to be the project handlers.

The project will include the revitalization of the rec centre, Wilson Centre and the Terry Fox Library. In all, the project will involve the redevelopment of the city-owned campus south of Wilson Avenue, between Mary Hill Road and Kingsway Avenue.

Kirsten Meersman, PoCo's director of engineering and operations, told the committee Monday the Tango bid was one of 10 proposals the city reviewed for project management.

Besides the Poirier project, Tango has previously worked on the Revelstoke Aquatic Centre and the Nanaimo Ice Centre and Aquatic Centre.

In the 2015 financial plan, which was given final approval Monday, city council budgeted $1.5 million this year for planning, consultation and design for the community recreation complex project.

Meanwhile, as part of its pledge to make property tax notices more "reader-friendly," the finance committee also agreed this week to break down the cost of services provided by the city and other agencies.
