Tap with TransLink's new Compass wristband

The first wearable transit payment option in North America being introduced next week
TransLink is releasing Compass wristbands on Dec. 3.

TransLink is introducing a new wearable payment option it says will make accessing transit more convenient.

Compass wristbands are being issued next week and work the same as a Compass Card, which is used to tap in and out on transit and can be reloaded with funds online, by phone, in person or at a Compass vending machine.

"TransLink is releasing 1,000 blue adult wristbands and 1,000 orange concession wristbands Dec. 3," TransLink said in a news release. "We’re starting with a limited release to gauge interest and will provide more of them early next year if needed."

The release noted that TransLink is the first transportation authority in North America to offer the payment method.
