These 12 Tri-City schools will get new administrators in January

School District 43 has announced new appointments for elementary, middle and secondary schools in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody

A new year will bring a dozen new faces in schools across the Tri-Cities.

School District 43 has released its list of new appointments for administrators, whose new jobs start on Jan. 31, 2022.

Topping the list is Frank Pearse, principal of Seaview Elementary School in Port Moody who will be heading up the new Coast Salish Elementary School in Coquitlam.

Previously called Sheffield Elementary, the school is being built on a six-acre site at 3538 Sheffield Ave. with $47.3 million in funding from the province and $5 million from SD43.

It will provide 430 student spaces in the fast-growing Burke Mountain neighbourhood. 

In a tweet this week, Pearse announced that “excitement is building” for the new school, slated to open September 2022.

Other school administrator appointments are as follows: 

  • Andrea Hunter moves from principal of Leigh Elementary in Coquitlam to principal of Birchland Elementary in Port Coquitlam
  • Tanya MacDonald moves from vice-principal of Kwayhquitlum Middle in Port Coquitlam to principal of Miller Park in Coquitlam
  • Stacey Parmar moves from principal at Heritage Mountain Elementary in Port Moody to principal of Westwood Elementary in Port Coquitlam
  • Larry Ryan moves from vice-principal at Pinetree Secondary in Coquitlam to the principal of Seaview Elementary in Port Moody
  • Jonathan Sclater moves from principal of Miller Park Elementary to principal of Heritage Mountain Elementary
  • Bryn Williams moves from principal at Westwood Elementary to principal of Leigh Elementary in Coquitlam

MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Frank Lore moves from teacher at Minnekhada Middle to vice-principal at Kwayhquitlum Middle. Both schools are in Port Coquitlam

SECONDARY SCHOOL

  • Michelle Ciolfitto moves from coordinator of learning services to vice-principal of Dr. Charles Best Secondary in Coquitlam
  • JJ Hyde moves from vice-principal at Riverside Secondary in Port Coquitlam to vice-principal at Heritage Woods Secondary in Port Moody
  • Dave Jones moves from vice-principal at Dr. Charles Best Secondary to vice-principal at Riverside Secondary
  • Mark Rao moves from vice-principal at Heritage Woods Secondary to vice-principal at Pinetree Secondary
