A handful of local wrestlers will don their costumes for a fierce fight in Port Coquitlam this weekend - but the real battle won't be against one another.
Tony Baroni, Sid Sylum and Nicole Matthews will be grappling in Wrestling with Hunger, an event that has become an annual PoCo tradition, with proceeds going to Share Family and Community Services' food bank.
Mary Ness, owner of ECCW Entertainment and an organizer of the Dec. 13 event, said she is hoping for a good turnout and a lot of donations.
"It's a full wrestling show," said Ness, who also wrestles under the stage name Mary Diaz. "The company makes a donation and fans can bring in food and cash."
This year's lineup will feature The House of Hell against Scotty Mac, Andy 'The Dreadful' Bird and Jack Cunningham. The Bearded Dragons, which consists of Tony Baronie, Artemis Spencer and Nick Pesky, will also take on The Entourage, which is made up of Pete Powers, MR2 and 'Handsome' Tommy Lane.
In the championships match, fans will watch Bishop take on Mantasia while Syd Sylum will be challenged by Ray Brooks in the Canadian championship match.
Fans can bring food, money and blankets to the event, which will be collected and distributed by Share Family and Community Services.
This year's event will take place on Saturday at the Elks Hall (2272 Leigh Sq.) in Port Coquitlam and general admission costs $16. A dollar from every ticket will also be donated to Share. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the first match gets underway at 8 p.m. For more information go to www.eccw.com.
