Thieves hit a Coquitlam non-profit environmental group twice in two nights last week.
Coquitlam RCMP is investigating break-ins on April 29 and 30 at the outdoor enclosure at the Hoy Creek hatchery building, behind Princess Gate, according to Caresse Selk, the city of Coquitlam's environmental stewardship co-ordinator. Thieves made away with a Honda pump as well as other items.
The city owns the hatchery facilities but the Hoy/Scott Creek Watershed Society owns the contents and insurance issues are being worked out, Selk said.
She also asked that residents in the area - people who live in the condos along the Hoy Creek trail as well as others who use the trails - keep their eyes and ears open, and report any suspicious activity to police.
Hoy Creek hatchery is a popular local attraction, with thousands of kids over the years attending events such as the Salmon Come Home festival held in the fall.
