Lougheed Highway near Brentwood has been a mess all summer and now the work by FortisBC has moved east to Delta Avenue.

FortisBC announced more upheavel on Lougheed Highway near Brentwood mall starting on Monday as the company continues its massive gas line upgrades project.

First, the good news.

FortisBC said on Friday that it’s planning to reopen Lougheed Highway from Madison Avenue to Delta Avenue in the first week of October.
Once this section is reopened, lane closures will remain in effect between Delta and Holdom Avenues.

“This means that traffic from Delta to Holdom is shifted to the south side of the street and reduced to one lane in each direction, said a news release.

The bad news involves the intersection of Delta Avenue at Lougheed Highway.

“Our upcoming work will require us to fully close the intersection of Delta Avenue and Lougheed Highway from October 1 – 6. The closure will help us complete our work in the area safely, and as quickly as possible,” said the news release.

Now this is where it gets complicated. According to FortisBC:
Vehicles travelling northbound on Douglas Road will still be able to turn left and travel westbound onto Lougheed Highway.

However, in order to travel east on Lougheed, northbound traffic on Douglas Road will be detoured by taking Goring Street to Holdom Avenue.

Vehicles travelling southbound on Delta Avenue will not be able to turn onto Lougheed Highway. Drivers are recommended to detour between Beta and Springer Avenues, travelling on Ridgelawn Drive and Halifax Street, to reach their destination.

Got all of that? Perhaps drivers should just avoid the area altogether if at all possible.
