Keenan Adams will be the BC United Party's candidate in Port Coquitlam in the next provincial election, scheduled for October.

The BC United Party is counting on a train engineer to drive them to victory in Port Coquitlam in the next provincial election this October.

Keenan Adams is the party’s candidate for the Port Coquitlam riding that is currently held by deputy premier Mike Farnworth, who’s also the province’s Solicitor General and Minister of Public Safety.

Adams is a locomotive engineer. He’s lived in Port Coquitlam since 2010 after graduating from the Railway Conductor program at BCIT and starting his railroad career on the Polar Bear Express in Northern Manitoba that transports tourists to Churchill to view polar bears.

Adams has been active in his union as well as Port Coquitlam’s Adopt-A-Spot program.

“I’ve always believed in the power of connection and hard work to bring positive change to our city,” he said in a news release.

“I’m determined to fix our crumbling healthcare system, restore safety to our streets, address the cost-of-living crisis, and ensure affordable housing is available for young people and families across Port Coquitlam, and all of British Columbia.”

The leader of BC United, Kevin Falcon, welcomed Adams to the party’s fold.

“Keenan's connection to his community, combined with his hard work ethic and dedication to giving back to Port Coquitlam, make him a great addition to our BC United team.”

Farnworth was first elected as an NDP MLA for Port Coquitlam in 1991 and, save for the four years from 2001-05 when the party was virtually wiped out, has represented the city ever since.
