TransLink will be extending SkyTrain service to help Tri-City riders — and the rest of Metro Vancouver — get to and from the Celebration of Light.
On July 27, July 31 and Aug. 3, the Millennium and Expo lines will put all of its available trains into service beginning at mid-afternoon, according to a TransLink press release. The last train will depart Waterfront Station at 1:16 a.m.
The Canada Line will offer rush-hour service all night, with the last train departing Waterfront Station at 1:15 a.m.
Once downtown, shuttle buses will bring riders to the shows at English Bay, departing Burrard Station and arriving at Denman and Robson from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Return shuttles will take people back to Burrard Station after the fireworks, departing from Georgia and Denman until demand goes down.
Another shuttle will run from Yaletown Station to Burrard and Davie from 6:45 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will provide return service from the same intersection.
For residents of the North Shore, the SeaBus service will run on 15-minute intervals until 12:30 a.m., after which it will switch to every 30 minutes until the final sailing departing Waterfront Station for Lonsdale Quay at 1:22 a.m.
On August 3, a West Coast Express train will depart Mission at 7 p.m., arriving at Waterfront at 8:15 p.m. and departing on a return trip from Waterfront Station at midnight.
Billed as the largest live event in the province, this year’s Celebration of Light features fireworks teams from India, Canada and Croatia.
