A longtime friend and advisor to former Port Moody mayor Joe Trasolini is now the constituency assistant to the newly elected MLA.
Trasolini, who in April won the Port Moody-Coquitlam seat under the NDP banner to replace BC Liberal MLA Iain Black, announced this week he had recently named Gray Giovannetti to run his community office.
An economics instructor at Langara College, Giovannetti served on a number of municipal committees while Trasolini was on city council, including on environmental protection, land use and economic development. As well, he was on the city's library and police boards and is a past president of the Port Moody Rotary club.
"Gray has been in this area for a very long time and he knows the area well," Trasolini said.
Meanwhile, Trasolini is now renovating his former campaign space at 2608 St. John's St. for his constituency office; he plans to have it open by the end of the month.
"Residents of this riding have been without representation since October and I think it's about time that they had someone in Victoria on their behalf," Trasolini said.
Black quit last fall to take a job as CEO of the Vancouver Board of Trade.
