Trees along Port Moody creeks will come down

Preparations for the Evergreen Line will soon require tree removal along creeks in Port Moody before building the guideway and stations.

Preparations for the Evergreen Line will soon require tree removal along creeks in Port Moody before building the guideway and stations.

Crews will be removing trees and brush in stages over the next few months, starting along Schoolhouse and Slaughterhouse creeks in early July, followed by Pigeon and Suterbrook creeks later this month.

Environmental management plans and permits for the Evergreen Line include an arborist's inventory of the trees located along the guideway and station locations. Trees along the railway land that pose operational issues will be removed, but not replaced.

Lands next to rivers and streams are fenced off and all species living in these areas will be relocated, according to an EGRT Construction release. Bird nest surveys will be completed prior to any tree removals.
