The blue trees outside of Port Moody city hall will not be changing back to their natural colour anytime soon.
The temporary, bio-degradeable colourant was sprayed on the trees last March as part of a public art project by Konstantin Dimopoulos of Australia, who created similar installations in Richmond and West Vancouver.
Port Moody staff was told that the colouring would last for about three months, however a year later and the blue trees remains.
"We aren't going to power wash it off," said Mayor Mike Clay when the question came up during Port Moody's Tuesday night meeting. "That would do more damage to the trees."
He added that staff have analyzed the trees and have not found any evidence that the spray is doing damage or causing them any stress.
Coun. Bob Elliott said he liked the trees and that many people have come to the municipality to take pictures with the art installation.
