Dragon boat fest

Watch the dragon boat races at the annual Inlet Spring Regatta at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody (2800-block of Murray Street). The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free for spectators; food trucks, vendors, entertainment and a beer garden will be on site.



Citywide garage sale

Load up on small bills for Port Moody’s annual citywide garage sale, on this morning at registered homes around the municipality.



Thrift store opens

The Low Entropy Foundation opens its second thrift store in the Tri-Cities to support its social services programs. The ribbon-cutting for the new store at 107B-2748 Lougheed Hwy., Port Coquitlam, is at 9:45 a.m.



Badminton tournament

Eventival and Active Play Foundation team up for a badminton tournament from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at COSports (921 Seaborne Ave., Port Coquitlam) with mixed games. The winners will receive prizes.



Goodbye tax papers

Shred your unwanted confidential papers with the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation, which will have an Iron Mountain truck outside Canadian Tire (2125 Hawkins St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations are accepted (suggested $10 for a banker box). The Tri-City News and City of Port Coquitlam are sponsors.



Sustainable living

Ever wondered how to reduce what you throw away and where it goes? Salina from PickEco will share insight on trash, both in and outside the house, at a workshop from 11 a.m. to noon at the Terry Fox Library (2150 Wilson Ave., Port Coquitlam).



Spring clean

For Earth Day, learn about reducing, reusing and recycling textiles at a workshop hosted by the Coquitlam Heritage Society. The session from noon to 3 p.m. takes place at Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). Registration is $40 per person.



Coyotes around us

Learn how to co-exist with coyotes safely during a free talk with the Stanley Park Ecology Society. Uncover the common misconceptions about urban coyotes and find out how to keep you and your pets safe from the wildlife. The event take place at the Maillardville Community Centre (1200 Cartier Ave., Coquitlam) from 1 to 2 p.m.

Kathak workshop

Learn how to move kathak style with Palak Dhiman at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). The workshop at 2 p.m. will teach you how the body movements, hand gestures, facial expressions and rhythmic footwork needed to tell a dance story.



Legion music

The band Sweet Max performs at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 263 in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) at 7 p.m.

See Kunji Ikeda and Cloudsway Dance Theatre’s performance of Sansei: The Storyteller at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) at 3 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45/$38/$16.



Salsa party

Get your dancing shoes on and groove to the Latin beats at Site B in Port Moody (3012 Murray St.). A beginners’ lesson to learn the Salsa moves is at 8 p.m.; the dance party is from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $15 at the door.
