PoCo Family Fun
The City of Port Coquitlam has a number of free drop-in activities for parents and their children to mark Family Day:
The Outlet (2248 McAllister Ave.)
- Family Imagination Studio
- 10 a.m. to noon
- Families can make art together in a free-flowing, creative art studio. Celebrate Lunar New Year by making a fiery dancing dragon puppet and decorations. Write blessings to share with friends and loved ones in your own handmade red envelopes. No registration required.
- Pets, Past and Present: A Family Day Poetry Show
- 11 a.m. to noon
- PoCo Heritage presents a Family Poetry Show. The Troupe de Poetry will share poems about family pets throughout the years. The poets will sprinkle in little-known stories of animals and pets in our community. No registration required.
- PoCo Heritage Museum
- 10 a.m. to noon
- Visit the PoCo Heritage Museum to celebrate families. This is a great chance to bring the whole family by the museum to learn something new about Port Coquitlam's history.
Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.)
- Family Play and Skate
- 9:30 to 11 a.m.
- Interactive on-ice activity zones will be set up for families and their young children to play and learn to skate, including shopping carts, sleds, giant blocks, as well as skating and hockey zones. Limited supply of free skate and helmet rentals. Activity #92784. Pre-registration required.
- Ring, Stick and Puck
- 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to noon
- Free recreational skate to practice ring, stick and puck skills on Arena 2 for residents (older than four) who can skate. Bring your own hockey/ringette stick and gloves. Free skate and helmet rentals available. Activity #93051 and #93490. Pre-registration required.
- Public Skate
- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Free all ages public skate on Arena 3, enjoy lap skating with family and friends. Limited supply of free skate and helmet rentals and skating aids. Activity #92328. Pre-registration required.
- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Drop-in Playmania (ages 1-6)
- 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
- Explore fun indoor spaces where your little one will enjoy a variety of playtime activities. Pre-registration required.
Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Ave.)
- Free Public Swim
- 1 to 2:50 p.m. and 3 to 4:50 p.m.
- Bring your family to the pool to celebrate Family Day. Pre-registration required.
