Here's what's on in the Tri-Cities for Friday, Jan. 12, 2024: 


CHOCOLATE, ART

Tour the Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) to see the latest exhibition, Rebecca Bair: Where the Light Meets My Shoulder, and sip on a cup of hot chocolate before touring the City of Coquitlam’s Lights at Lafarge, the largest free outdoor light show in Metro Vancouver that’s on until the middle of February. The gathering happens from 5 to 6 p.m.

HOCKEY NIGHT

See the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers face off against the Delta Ice Hawks on home ice for a 7 p.m. hockey game at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.).

LEGION NIGHT

Enjoy the tunes and jump on the dance floor at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 263 in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) for a fun night with the Diggers. The band hits the stage at 7 p.m.

SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL

Stage 43 Theatrical Society presents an updated adaptation of the 18th century comedy The School for Scandal with a modern version by William Harwell Wilson. The shows run at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) from Jan. 11 to 20 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Jan. 14. Tickets are $63/$57.

MOVIE NIGHT

Watch the Norwegian/Canadian drama Insomnia at the Inlet Theatre inside Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr.) at 7:30 p.m. The 1997 flick is being screened by the Port Moody Film Society. Admission is $5 plus a $5 annual society membership. Cash and cheque are accepted at the door. Ticket sales start at 6:45 p.m.

LIVE MUSIC

It’s a double bill at the Crossroads Coffeehouse, located in the Mabbett Room at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.), where John Bowman and Pat Chessell will perform. The show in support of the Crossroads Hospice Society starts at 7:30 p.m. Entry is with a minimum donation of $10 (cash only at the door).
