Adult rock painting

Create fun and whimsical pieces of art for your garden, kitchen, desk or anywhere that needs a little brightening up. The Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Dr.) will provide some designs you can follow along with or you can create your own. All supplies will be provided. The event is from 1 to 2 p.m.

HER market

Take your gal pals to the Her Market, a pop-up market that supports women in the Tri-Cities. The Collective Markets will match and donate all door proceeds to The BeaYOUtiful Foundation. Entry is $5 at the door of Site B (3012 Murray St., Port Moody). No cost for kids 12 and under. The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m.

Recreation job fair

Learn about the recreational jobs available through the City of Coquitlam at its job fair, happening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way). City staff working in parks, recreation, culture and human resources will be on hand to provide information about current and upcoming positions.

Legion tunes

Dance to the music from RePlay at the Royal Canadian Legion in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.). The band will be on the stage from 7 to 10 p.m. to entertain.

Express on ice

Cheer on the Coquitlam Express as the hockey team battles Langley on home ice at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.) at 7 p.m.

Festival du Bois

It’s the 35th year of Festival du Bois, the largest francophone celebration in western Canada. Tonight’s kickoff at 7 p.m. at Mackin Park (1046 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) features Podorythmie at 7 p.m. followed by a Friday night contra dance at 8 p.m. with the Sybaritic String Band with caller Maureen Collier. Entry is free.

Carney Shrek

Grab a seat in the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) to see the Shrek: The Musical by students at Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School. Nicolas Lam takes the lead role. The performance with a live orchestra starts at 7 p.m. and is family friendly. Tickets are $18.

Live music

It’s a double bill at the Crossroads Coffeehouse, located in the Mabbett Room at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.), where Peter Tam and Steph Jackson, and Allegro (Craig Zurba and Loralee Parks) will perform. The show in support of the Crossroads Hospice Society starts at 7:30 p.m. Entry is with a minimum donation of $10 (cash only at the door).

Film fest

Take a seat in the Inlet Theatre at Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr.) for the Port Moody Film Society’s Canadian mini film festival this weekend. It starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. with Scarborough, a film adaptation of the award-winning novel by Canadian author Catherine Hernandez.
