Honour our veterans by attending a Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday in the Tri-Cities:
COQUITLAM
Legion branch 263 will host a service at 10 a.m. at Como Lake middle (1121 King Albert Ave.) followed by a parade at 10:30 a.m. from the school to the cenotaph on Veterans Way (Porter Street, in Blue Mountain Park). Wreath laying is at 11 a.m. and the parade from the cenotaph to the Legion hall (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) is at 11:30 a.m. Call 604-937-0111.
PORT COQUITLAM
Legion branch 133 will pay tribute to vets with a service at 9:30 a.m. at the Wilson Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) and a parade later to the cenotaph at Veterans' Park, located in front of PoCo city hall. The wreath laying starts at 11 a.m. followed by a march to the Legion for refreshments and entertainment all day. Call 604-942-8911.
PORT MOODY
Legion branch 119 will hold a non-denominational service in the Chip Kerr Memorial Auditorium at its facility (2513 Clarke St.) followed by a parade on Clarke at 10:30 a.m. and a 21-gun salute; the wreath laying is at 11 a.m. Call 604-936-1312.
LEST WE FORGET
As in past years, TransLink will honour active and past service men and women with free rides on public transit on Nov. 11.
The program applies to ordinary and life members of the Royal Canadian Legion; army, navy and air force veterans; and the Korea Veterans' Association members. Veterans need to flash their membership card to get free transportation on the day (the service doesn't extend to associate members of these groups).
Also, TransLink is offering a free lift on its buses, SkyTrain and SeaBus to police and auxiliaries, firefighters, paramedics, and Coast Guard and Fisheries and Oceans officers - in uniform or with their badge.
