A trial has been scheduled for the youth accused of beating a security guard in October.
The 16-year-old boy, who can't be identified due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing one charge of aggravated assault.
The assault occurred on Oct. 14 when 64-year-old Hoshiar Singh Bajwa was patrolling a construction site near Pitt River middle school in Port Coquitlam; he was assaulted by three unknown men, sustaining head injuries that required more than 50 stitches. Nothing was stolen from the construction site Bajwa had been guarding.
About two weeks later, police released photos of two jackets they believed were associated with the assault. One was a green camouflage hoodie sweatshirt with an orange logo and the other was a black zippered Adidas jacket with red and white stripes up the arms.
Only one youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A court date on Sept. 11 will confirm trial dates scheduled for five days starting Nov. 8.
